About the role:

The Strategic Relationships Manager is a new and innovative role at Selwyn District Council, focusing on managing key stakeholder development journeys through the Council. The role aims to enable strategic partners to unlock their economic and social potential, improving amenity, employment, and economic outcomes for Selwyn. Reporting to the Executive Director of Development and Growth, you will be the primary contact for our partners, focusing on strengthening relationships and facilitating complex applications, ensuring alignment across the Council.

Key responsibilities:
  1. Build, manage, and enhance key relationships.
  2. Identify opportunities for collaboration and development.
  3. Serve as the main point of contact to address any issues that arise.
  4. Oversee customer involvement in building and resource consent processes, potentially expanding to all Council services.
  5. Provide feedback and implement business improvements to enhance service delivery.
About you:

You should demonstrate the ability to lead organizational and cultural change initiatives within a complex environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels, both internally and externally, are essential. Experience in relationship management is crucial for success in this role. Additionally, you will:

  1. Build rapport quickly with diverse stakeholders.
  2. Have a solid understanding of Resource Consent and Building Consent processes.
  3. Be solution-oriented in technically challenging situations.
  4. Manage numerous relationships and interactions with the Council.
  5. Promote collaboration across the Council to ensure a unified approach.
