Mō te tūranga mahi | About the role

We're looking for a Senior Advisor, Compliance where you will be part of a team working across the business to drive compliance culture and improve compliance maturity, leading to improved organisational performance.

Complying with legislation and internal policy obligations is a key component of ACC's Three Lines Model. As part of a small second line Enterprise Compliance team, the Senior Advisor, Compliance provides support on compliance matters to ACC managers and staff.

Reporting to the Manager, Compliance, the Senior Advisor, Compliance helps drive the development, implementation and maturing of ACC's compliance framework, tools and guidance to lift compliance capability and culture to ensure ACC meets its core obligations. A key area of focus will be on supporting the uplift of ACC's controls environment, and providing expert advice on internal controls and related compliance matters to senior managers and staff.

Ngā Haepapa Mahi | Key Responsibilities

• Work with the business and the Enterprise Risk team to support the development of ACC's control environment and control monitoring and assurance practices
• Help drive the work programme to lift compliance capability and culture across ACC.
• Help drive the design, development and implementation of compliance frameworks, guidelines and processes. Drives continuous improvement.
• Work with the Legal function and Compliance colleagues to maintain ACC's obligations register ensuring this is kept up to date for any changes to legislative provisions that apply to ACC.
• Lead the process for periodic management attestation and annual legislative compliance surveys.
• Support policy owners, policy leads and other members of the Compliance team in the development and review of ACC internal corporate policies and helps policy owners to define compliance monitoring and assurance plans.
• Support the development and implementation of a reporting framework on the outcomes of compliance monitoring in order that appropriate action can be taken.
• Support periodic reporting to the Executive and various governance groups (including the Board Risk Assurance and Audit Committee and the full Board) ensuring reporting deliverables are produced on time to the desired level of quality.
• Demonstrate commitment to Huakina Te Rā through embedding our Ngā Pae Ārahi principles, and actively leading/working on mahi that moves ACC towards achieving the Whāinga Matua | goals of our enterprise strategy.

This is a permanent role based in Wellington.

The indicative salary for this role is between $124,000 - $153,000 with appointment within the range depending on skills and experience and internal relativities. ACC also offers 9% superannuation on top of base salary.

Mōu | About you

You may be at a Senior level currently, but looking to gain further experience in a large, complex, and interesting organisation.

We're looking for:

• Tertiary qualification (legal, risk, governance, policy, accounting, finance or a related discipline) is preferred.
• At least 3 years' experience in a compliance or closely related role, ideally working in a large and/or complex (private or public sector) organisation.
• Demonstrated understanding of best practice enterprise compliance frameworks, processes and systems (with knowledge of ISO compliance standards) including control monitoring.
• Experience working with Global Risk & Compliance systems/applications would be advantageous.
• Proven ability to give well-reasoned advice and guidance to senior stakeholders and well-developed influencing skills.
• Able to form effective working relationships with senior managers and staff and positively influences change through those relationships.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical experience and demonstrated attention to detail.
• Enjoys working under pressure to set priorities and managing tight deadlines.
• Can-do attitude and a high level of initiative.
