Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled CMM Programmer / Quality Manager to lead our inspection and quality control efforts in a precision machining environment. This role blends hands-on technical inspection with leadership and quality system management responsibilities. You’ll work closely with operations and plant management to ensure that products meet strict internal and customer quality standards, and that all measurement, calibration, and audit systems are in place and effective.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Inspection Management
Manage the Quality Control and Inspection Department, overseeing inspections of machined parts, purchased components, and outsourced services.
Supervise daily tasks and performance of Quality Assurance Inspectors, including setting schedules and controlling department overtime and budget.
Establish and enforce inspection standards for First Article, In-Process, Receiving, and Final Inspections to ensure compliance with internal quality protocols.
CMM Programming & Technical Oversight
Program and operate the Mitutoyo CRYSTA-APEX V7106 CMM using MCOSMOS GEOPAK software to conduct precise dimensional inspections.
Develop repeatable, reliable programs for complex geometries, ensuring parts meet drawing tolerances and customer specifications.
Review complex engineering prints and verify compliance using appropriate measurement tools and methods.
Quality System Management
Maintain and improve documented inspection and quality procedures across departments.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for non-conformances, working closely with production and plant leadership.
Maintain a calibration program for all measurement and inspection equipment used in production and inspection processes.
Prepare and issue monthly quality reports covering scrap and rework costs, departmental performance metrics, and operator-level tracking.
Supplier Quality & Auditing
Develop and manage a supplier certification and auditing program.
Conduct or support audits of vendors and key customers, ensuring quality procedures, delivery performance, and documentation systems meet required standards.
Track and report vendor performance data including acceptance rates, delivery timelines, and quality trends.
Customer & Engineering Collaboration
Recommend drawing revisions and/or obtain deviation approvals when required for non-conforming but acceptable parts.
Support customer and vendor visits to audit quality standards and systems as needed.
Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to resolve quality issues and implement improvements.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Strong working knowledge of:
JobBoss² ERP System
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Calibration systems and dimensional inspection tools
Industry quality standards, procedures, and manuals
Ability to:
Read and interpret complex technical drawings and GD&T
Program and operate CMMs using MCOSMOS / GEOPAK
Lead inspections and manage small quality teams
Communicate clearly across departments and with external partners
