Job description

Oversee and review WoF & CoF inspections
  • Regulatory and compliance role with site visits
  • Location: Auckland, North Shore, flexible working, Monday to Friday
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are looking for a Certification Officer to join our busy specialist team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviews and investigations into high-risk and non-compliance areas within the vehicle certification sector. Drawing on your vehicle certification experience and excellent knowledge of Vehicle Inspection Requirement Manuals (VIRM), you will regularly visit and engage with regulated parties in the Auckland region to ensure they meet compliance and legislative requirements. This includes:

  • Routine performance reviews of Inspecting Organisations (IOs) and Vehicle Inspectors (VIs)
  • Assessing IOs and VIs for entry into the system
  • Responding to non-compliance and safety issues using compliance support and enforcement interventions to ensure a safe land transport system

You will need to produce high-quality reports based on your visits, including findings and the implementation of statutory interventions and other regulatory activities. Reporting involves updating spreadsheets to track your findings and ensuring timely outcomes to enhance safety and compliance. Travel across Auckland and the wider region for site visits is required. Salary is between $90,423 and $120,564, depending on skills and experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years of WoF/CoF experience
  • Excellent knowledge of VIRMs for CoF/WoF and QMS
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent written communication skills, capable of producing well-reasoned reports
  • Ability to build relationships and appreciate different perspectives
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize risks and workload

Qualifications include:

  • Current or recent WoF or CoF authorities
  • NZ Certificate in Automotive Engineering L4 or 5
  • Full Driver Licence is preferred, with no convictions or demerit points

You should also demonstrate a willingness to understand and promote Te Ao Māori, tikanga, and Te Reo Māori, as well as an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the public sector context.
