Whip Around was founded in 2016 to assist freight companies in New Zealand with their paper-based compliance processes. Working with some of the world's largest freight companies, we observed the significant time costs associated with paper management for fleet managers. Within a year, the US market emerged as a key opportunity as Whip Around addressed a critical pain point for fleet-related businesses.

We are seeking a commercially savvy, detail-oriented Finance Business Partner who excels at translating numbers into insights. In this pivotal role within our finance team, you will help maintain financial integrity, enable smarter business decisions, and support our growth initiatives.

You should have strong accounting experience, with the ability to partner with various business units, challenge assumptions, and communicate complex financial data effectively to non-financial stakeholders.

This position is initially a six-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for permanence.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with business leaders to provide financial insights, support budgeting and forecasting, monitor performance, and drive data-informed decisions. Contribute to month-end close, process improvements, and strategic projects.
• Manage daily accounting operations, including journal entries, employee expenses, supplier payments, and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Support month-end closing and financial reporting, including reconciliations, accruals, and preparation of financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain financial compliance by reviewing customer accounts for provisions, applying NZ IFRS standards.
• Assist with special projects such as transfer pricing implementation and intercompany consolidation and reporting across entities.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Qualified CA/CPA.
• Experience with Big 4 accounting firms (advantageous).
• 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Xero, MS Excel, Google Sheets.
• Strong understanding of IFRS standards.
• Experience in the tech or SaaS industry (advantageous).
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills to interpret and explain financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
• Proactive, curious mindset with confidence to challenge the status quo.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
