Our clients are diverse, including high-profile commercial and public sector organisations, developers, construction companies, property managers, and individuals. We provide Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, and Environmental Engineering as well as Project & Design Management services. We offer clients sound and pragmatic civil and infrastructure solutions.

The Role:

We have a position available in our Christchurch-based office for a Senior Civil Engineer with local regional knowledge. CPEng is preferred, but the candidate could be working towards submitting their experience. The work at CGW is varied, with opportunities to work across multiple projects encompassing land development, local government, and private commercial infrastructure. The Land and Infrastructure Team is highly collaborative, with extensive knowledge and experience to support your career growth. We seek an individual who can work independently and connect with a geographically spread team.

Responsibilities:

  • Role-model, provide leadership and guidance to technical staff to complete accurate and efficient engineering designs and documentation.
  • Review technical reports and engineering solutions at appropriate project stages.
  • Undertake 3D modelling and design using Civil 3D or 12D Model; as a proficient user in roading, hydrology, and drainage, you will also mentor others.
  • Perform technical calculations from first principles for pavement design and 3 waters.
  • Manage projects and lead others in completing work packages.
  • Communicate actively with clients and project stakeholders with excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Experience with construction monitoring and NZS3910 requirements.

Our ideal candidate would be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, with NZ Residency or a valid NZ work permit, and possess the following abilities:

  • A NZ-recognised degree in Civil Engineering (BEngTech or BE Civil).
  • Minimum of 8 years of New Zealand experience.
  • Values integrity, relationships, and is outcome-focused.
  • Good understanding of the complexities of infill residential developments and large-scale greenfield developments.
  • Lateral thinker, agile, and self-motivated.
  • Full NZ Drivers Licence.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to develop, maintain, and enhance company and client relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
