Site Supervisor/Lead Rigger – Structural Steel

Recognised as New Zealand’s fastest-growing manufacturer and ranked 3rd overall in the Deloitte Fast 50, my client is offering an exciting opportunity for a Site Supervisor/Lead Rigger to join their high-performing team. Although still young, this innovative steel fabrication company is making serious waves in the market, backed by a strong commitment to sustainability and investment in cutting-edge technology.

They’re now looking for an experienced and driven Site Supervisor to lead on-site teams and ensure successful steel erection across a range of commercial and industrial projects.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

• Supervising and coordinating daily on-site activities, ensuring everything runs safely, smoothly, and according to plan.
• Leading riggers, welders, and other site personnel to achieve project milestones.
• Ensuring quality control, compliance with engineering drawings, and adherence to project documentation.
• Driving a safety-first culture through inductions, toolbox talks, and active risk management.
• Maintaining accurate site records, managing QA checklists, and reporting site progress to the Site Manager.
• Building a cohesive and productive site team, providing mentorship and on-the-job support.

About you:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role within the steel erection or structural steel industry.
• Trade qualification in steel erection, fabrication, or construction (preferred).
• Proven leadership skills and a hands-on approach to getting the job done right.
• Solid knowledge of rigging, structural steel erection practices, and site safety.
• Comfortable reading and interpreting technical drawings.
• Working at Heights and EWP certifications essential.
• Rigging ticket and First Aid certification a bonus.
• Physically fit, safety-conscious, and confident working at heights.
