What's the job?

Vac U Digga is New Zealand’s leading hydro excavation specialist. Hydro excavation is all we do, and the level of expertise we’ve accrued doesn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of 18 years of civil construction experience and ten years of Research and Development.

It’s also worth mentioning that Vac U Digga is part of Intergroup, which opens up all kinds of other options for future growth and development.

Are you the right fit?

Our team is built on a strong buddy system for most of our work, so you've got to like working as a team.

We are looking for a motivated and mechanically minded Soil Transfer Operator to join our team! In this role, you'll be responsible for processing and maintenance of hydro excavation waste through our soil transfer unit. Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate soil transfer machinery to process hydro excavation waste efficiently.
  • Ensure all paperwork and reports are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment, including pumps and electrical components, to minimize downtime.
  • Work in all weather conditions and be prepared for a physically dirty job.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation and maintain safety standards.
Qualifications:
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to troubleshoot and fix equipment, including pumps and electrical components.
  • Class 2 license is essential; Class 4 license is preferred if available.
  • Ability to operate a wheeled loader.
  • Flexible, with the ability to adapt to changing tasks and job demands, including working hours and weekends.
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions and outdoor environments.
  • Strong focus on safety and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions closely.
You'll benefit from:
  • Competitive pay and benefits.
  • A welcoming, helpful team — our characters are down to earth and willing to help each other out.
  • Opportunities for development and growth.
  • Commitment to health and safety — you'll never have to work in an unsafe environment or in situations where you feel uncomfortable.

So come and join our great team today – and show us your character!
