Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineering Lecturer who will provide our students with a high-quality level of learning and be passionate about passing their knowledge and skills to enable them to succeed in their studies. We are looking for individuals who have the motivation to engage in growing our programmes and to shape the development of new teaching and learning techniques. We seek candidates with relevant industry experience, as this facilitates the effective translation of academic knowledge into practical, real-world solutions.
The role will be based at our City Campus and this is a permanent role (40 hours) per week. Classes are run during the day and evenings.
Key focus areas
- Planning and delivering courses using effective and engaging teaching methods and materials appropriate to the students and course content and aligned with the NZSE Teaching and Learning Plan
- Design, Lead and Develop course content and assessments as per NZQA standards
- Ensuring all assessments, including tests are completed as per the requirements of the course including marking, feedback, moderation, reassessment and rescheduling within required timeframe
- Industry stakeholder engagement, organising guest speakers and internships
- Participating in and working on research projects
- Face-to-face and online delivery of classes
Ko koe tēnei | About you
- Previous experience in teaching at a tertiary level in Technology ie electrical engineering, AI, Machine Learning, Programming or similar
- Hold a PhD in Engineering or related field
- Experience designing and creating Engineering course material, programme development and assessments at Level 6 or higher on the NZQA Framework
- Research active and have a clear research direction that aligns within the field of Engineering
- Previous experience using CANVAS is preferred
- Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and contributing to a culturally inclusive environment
- Diploma in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 6) or NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching Level 5 or willing to work towards one
