Student Experience Coordinator

Full Time / Part time: Part Time (40% of full time); Approximately 16 hours per week as a minimum

Regular / Temporary: Fixed term contract for 6 months, with the possibility to extend to permanent.

Salary: $27 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an individual to support IFSA’s program in Auckland. This role provides academic, cultural, and wellbeing support for undergraduate students; organises co-curricular activities; and contributes to overall operations. It is a fixed-term, part-time position aligned with the university calendar.

You will work independently with support from the Director & the Senior Student Experience Coordinator, collaborating with colleagues across Australia, the Asia Pacific, and various IFSA departments. The role involves working from home, meeting students on campus or at activities, with flexible hours and some weekend events.

Responsibilities
  • Organise and coordinate excursions, co-curricular activities, and orientations for University of Auckland students.
  • Conduct appreciative advising, including learning plan consultations, and meet regularly with students to assess their experiences and resolve issues.
  • Monitor students' integration and wellbeing through communication and campus visits.
  • Perform isolation and welfare checks as needed.
  • Support planning and delivery of custom programs.
  • Assist in academic management tasks, including course registration and student advising.
  • Model practices reflecting IFSA’s commitments of inclusive excellence and intercultural agility.
  • Contribute to emergency response and student incident management per protocols.
  • Additional opportunities may include remote support for other site operations and pre-travel advising.
Requirements, Experience, and Education
  • One to two years of relevant work experience, preferably in study abroad, higher education, hospitality, tourism, or non-profit sectors.
  • Enthusiasm for IFSA’s mission and values.
  • Strong time management and planning skills, with ability to work independently on time-sensitive tasks.
  • Attention to detail in managing program and administrative data.
  • Experience supporting diverse student populations, including students of color, students with disabilities, first-generation college students, and LGBTQIA+ students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in changing situations.
  • Calm and professional response to emergencies.
  • Knowledge of the university system and student life in New Zealand.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred but not required.
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand.

Physical and Work Environment
