Job summary

The Child Psychiatrist role at a leading tertiary hospital in Auckland, New Zealand, involves contributing to professional development and supervision of Registrars, House Officers and Students within the Child and Family Unit and adolescent mental health inpatient services.

Applicants should have experience and qualification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, knowledge of NZ mental health legislation, and a commitment to recovery principles.

Qualifications

• Experience and qualification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
• Excellent working knowledge of the NZ mental health field including relevant legislation.
• 5 years clinical practice in Mental Health.
• Commitment for biocultural practice.
• Sound understanding and commitment to recovery principles.
• High standard of verbal and written communication.
• PC literacy.
• FRANZCP or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• The Child Psychiatrist contributes to the professional development and supervision of the Registrars, House Officers and Students.
• Works within the Child and Family Unit and adolescent mental health inpatient unit serving 0–18 years and their families.
• Collaborates with other services to support a large region and provide high quality care.

The Child Psychiatrist contributes to the professional development and supervision of the supportive team of Registrars House Officers and Students.

The Child and Family Unit and adolescent mental health inpatient unit working with young people from 0 to 18 years old and their families

They are one of only three specialist inpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service units in New Zealand serving a very large region with strong commitment to collaboration between young person family staff and other services

There is also a 3 bed Mother and Baby unit which is the second only in New Zealand . The Unit is situated in Auckland Central.

Roles do not come up often for SMO in this great service. We are looking for someone who is already registered or eligible for Locum Tenens and committed to being in New Zealand in January

The successful candidate will have:
