Job summary

Otago Vacuum Tank Services Ltd in Dunedin, on New Zealand's South Island, seeks a motivated Driver/Operator with a minimum Class 2 licence to join our locally owned, hardworking team. You’ll be involved in grease trap cleaning, portaloo servicing, septic tank work and operating vacuum trucks across multiple service lines.

This physically demanding role includes spill response and site tidying, with full training provided to help you grow your skills and career in the waste services industry.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum Class 2 licence with drive to upskill in this role.

Otago Vacuum Tank Services is Dunedin’s leading provider of vacuum truck and liquid waste services. We’re a locally owned, hard‑working team known for our supportive culture, strong work ethic, and commitment to delivering safe, reliable services to our customers. We’re looking for a motivated Driver/Operator with a minimum Class 2 licence who is keen to learn, grow, and upskill across a wide range of essential services.

We are currently hiring across multiple roles, hydro excavation, vacuum truck experience will be an advantage. This role can be very physical from time to time and is not just a role driving trucks.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Grease trap cleaning across commercial sites
• Portaloo servicing, and cleaning
• Septic tank and sump cleaning
• Operating vacuum trucks for a range of liquid waste jobs
• Assisting with spill clean-ups and general site tidy-ups
• Basic truck checks and maintenance
• Supporting the team with other services as required

Full training is provided, and you’ll gain experience across multiple service lines as you grow in the role.

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

A holder of a minimum Class 2 licence (with the drive to upskill further)

Someone with experience operating vacuum and hydro excavation trucks, or confident and willing to learn

A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

Comfortable interacting with customers and members of the public

Committed to safe work practices and following procedures

Reliable, practical, and able to work independently once trained

Experience in the waste, water, or vacuum truck industry is an advantage — but not essential. We’ll train the right person.
