Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for casual District Nursing in Wellington. The role supports patients in their homes and in collaboration with GP practices, delivering high-quality community care.

Ideal candidates have autonomous practice skills, strong assessment abilities, and a commitment to equity and whānau-centred care. A current APC, five years broadly across clinical nursing, and a valid driver licence are

Qualifications

Current Annual Practising Certificate as a Registered Nurse with the NZ Nursing Council.
Experience in district nursing or strong interest in community-based care.
At least five years of broad clinical nursing experience.
On the Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP), or willingness to work towards it.
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
A current driver licence is essential.

Responsibilities

Deliver home-based interventions including IV therapy, palliative care, wound care.
Compression bandaging and Doppler assessments.
Medication management; stoma and incontinence care.
Support patients transitioning from hospital to home and collaborate with GP practices.
Lead Health Care Assistants and coordinate with the wider Community Health team to ensure safe, coordinated care.
