Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Lakes is seeking a District Nurse to assess, plan, and implement care for patients in home and community settings across Taupo. The role emphasises partnership with patients, whānau, and the wider healthcare team to deliver evidence-based care.

You will start early, conduct scheduled visits, perform home-based treatments, document care, respond to calls, and coordinate with colleagues to provide holistic support for individuals and families in our Lakes region.

Qualifications

• Hold New Zealand Nursing Council (NCNZ) registration.
• Hold a current Practising Certificate.
• Hold a valid driver’s license for both manual and automatic vehicles.
• Evidence of Level 3 of an approved PDRP programme.
• 4–5 years post-graduate nursing experience in an acute medical/surgical setting.
• Experience with Advanced IV management (CVAD, Port-A-Cath, PICC, Midline).

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan and implement care programmes for patients in the home and community.
• Collaborate with patients, whānau, and the multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based care.
• Carry out home-based treatments, patient checks and documentation of care.
• Respond to messages and coordinate with the wider healthcare team for holistic care.
