Job summary

Orion, Canterbury-based electricity distribution network owner, seeks a Programme Manager (Distribution) to guide scoping, design coordination and delivery support across our network, collaborating with engineering, delivery, asset management, procurement and external stakeholders to realise complex infrastructure projects.

This role covers replacement, reinforcement, undergrounding, relocations and growth-related works, demanding strong problem-solving and relationship-building to keep programs

Qualifications

• Experience in electricity distribution, utilities or infrastructure sectors.
• NZ Diploma in Engineering Level 6 or equivalent industry experience.
• Proven coordination of programmes, projects or technical work with competing priorities.
• Strong relationship-building across multiple stakeholders.
• Confident communicator and problem solver in fast-paced environments.
• Knowledge of asset management practices and GIS-related systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the scoping, design coordination, and delivery support of critical distribution network projects.
• Manage replacement, reinforcement, undergrounding, relocation, and growth-related works from concept to completion.
• Support delivery teams throughout full project lifecycle to meet scope, budget, timeline and quality.
• Build relationships with councils, utilities, contractors, developers and internal teams to keep projects progressing.
• Provide technical advice and coordination across distribution projects and network improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to asset management, continuous improvement and safe delivery outcomes.
