Job summary

St Patrick's School (Napier) Hawke's Bay invites applications for a Director of Religious Studies (DRS). This full-time, permanent role combines leadership with teaching across Years 1–8, contributing to our Special Character environment and school–parish partnership.

You will lead the ongoing implementation of our Religious Education Curriculum Tō Tātau Whakapono - Our Faith, model Gospel values, work with the leadership team, and collaborate with the Diocesan DRS community.

Director of Religious Studies (DRS)

Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi
English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts2 Management Units

We are looking for a teacher/kaiako who:

• Understands and models the Gospel teachings of Jesus and our school values, bringing these to life in their thoughts, words and actions.
• Will lead the ongoing implementation of our Religious Education Curriculum Tō Tātau Whakapono - Our Faith.
• Will work collaboratively as a member of the leadership team and wider Diocesan DRS community.
• Will continue to foster a successful school - parish partnership.
• Has up-to-date curriculum and pedagogical knowledge, alongside demonstrated effective classroom practice.
• This roll comes with a full-time teaching component, please indicate your Year level preference in your application.

As the DRS you would be expected to ‘give guidance and provide effective leadership in Religious Education and observances throughout the school.’

This is a Special Character position therefore ‘a willingness and ability to participate in religious instruction appropriate to the special character of the school’ is a condition of appointment.
