About YWCA A/NZ

We’re a national, Tiriti-honouring charity backing young women and gender-diverse people to lead, thrive, and create change. We use programmes, advocacy, and storytelling to advance equity across Aotearoa.

The role (what you’ll do)

Create and schedule social content, write captions, and engage our online community to amplify campaigns and events. You’ll help keep Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and email on-brand, inclusive and accessible.

Key responsibilities

  • Draft and schedule posts (IG/FB/LinkedIn) using Canva and platform schedulers.
  • Write clear, on-brand captions with hashtags; add alt text and simple video captions.
  • Engage with comments/DMs and escalate sensitive queries to the General Manager.
  • Track basic performance (reach, saves, clicks) and note what’s working.
  • Keep our content calendar tidy and surface stories (with consent) from our community.
  • Uphold safeguarding, privacy and brand guidelines.
About you (what you’ll bring)
  • Strong writing voice with care for accessibility (alt text, readable layouts, captions) OR the desire/ability to learn.
  • Comfortable in Canva and basic analytics (platform insights are fine) OR the desire/ability to learn.
  • Organised, reliable, and values-aligned with equity and inclusion.
  • Collaborative communicator; happy to ask questions and learn.

Nice to have (not essential)

  • Experience with IG Reels/TikTok, Mailchimp/Emails, or simple photo/video editing.
Time & place
  • 0.5–1 hour per week, flexible, remote.

  • Occasional spikes around key campaigns (e.g. Week Without Violence); always by agreement.

What you’ll get
  • Training, templates and ongoing support.

  • A reference and/or LinkedIn endorsement on completion of agreed hours and deliverables.

  • Real-world comms experience for a national kaupapa with measurable impact.

Safeguarding & privacy

We’re a youth-aligned charity. Volunteers follow our code of conduct and privacy guidelines; we provide clear escalation pathways for sensitive content.
