Job summary

The University of Waikato is hiring a Digital Capability Enablement Specialist to drive digital capability across the University. You will develop an enablement programme and coordinate resources for adoption of core applications and services, including M365 and AI-enabled tools.

You will create online resources, engage diverse audiences and collaborate with ITS, SMEs, and external providers to ensure accessible, audience-focused guidance.

Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

As our Digital Capability Enablement Specialist, you will play an important role in supporting user groups to confidently adopt and use core University business applications, productivity tools and digital services.

You will develop and coordinate a structured Digital Capability Enablement programme aligned with organisational priorities, technology change initiatives and operational handover needs. Working across Information Technology Services, subject matter experts, People and Capability and other stakeholder groups, you will help ensure digital education, guidance and user resources are accessible, audience-focused and fit for purpose.

This is not an explicitly trainer-focused role. Instead, you will establish standards, approaches and reusable resources for digital training and education, leveraging project, business, external and subject matter expert capability to support effective adoption and sustained use of digital tools.

You will also coordinate communication collateral that supports digital capability uplift, including content for Tech Hub, Tech News and targeted University communications.

Salary will be based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based on our Hillcrest Campus.

You will bring experience in digital training, education or capability uplift, together with a good understanding of change management, technology adoption and modern digital workplace tools.

You will have:

• Understanding of modern digital workplace tools, including M365 and AI-enabled tools.
• Experience developing online and on-demand resources such as self-guided videos, FAQs and SharePoint-based resources.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with different audiences.
• The ability to collaborate with technical specialists, project teams, change practitioners, business representatives and external providers.

Experience with Moodle, higher education digital environments, cyber awareness or accessible self-service guidance would be advantageous.

You will be a clear, confident and engaging communicator who is collaborative, inclusive, innovative and adaptable. You will be user-focused, well organised and comfortable working through ambiguity while bringing stakeholders together around shared outcomes.
