Overview

JOB LOCATION: Canyon Fuel Company - Dugout Canyon Mine - Warehouse

The Diesel Mechanic-Electrician is responsible for performing maintenance and electrical tasks on heavy and light-duty equipment used in coal mining operations. The role requires troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining various types of mining and support equipment in a safe and efficient manner. The position collaborates closely with the maintenance team to ensure equipment availability and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Planner, and Shop Foreman to execute maintenance and electrical tasks, including troubleshooting low-voltage systems, replacing faulty components, and conducting preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all tasks meet federal and state regulatory standards to optimize equipment reliability, safety, cost-effectiveness, productivity, and environmental sustainability.
  • Interpret and work from maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, and electrical schematics.
  • Utilize low-voltage electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to repair surface mining equipment effectively.
Education & Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance and electrical work within mining operations, with a focus on mechanical systems.
  • MSHA Electrical Certification and knowledge of MSHA diesel regulatory requirements.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as dictated by operational needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
Essential Functions
  • Regularly required to reach, handle, and operate objects, tools, or controls using hands, arms, legs, and feet.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders or steps.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds for short distances.
  • Effective verbal communication and hearing abilities are required.
  • Must possess strong visual abilities, including close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to maintain focus and concentration in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform duties in various weather conditions and on different surfaces during day and night shifts.
