Job summary

Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities is hiring DevOps Engineers to strengthen the Asset Delivery Platform team. The role focuses on leveraging DevOps and platform engineering to improve reliability, security, scalability, and deployment efficiency in a permanent Wellington or Christchurch-based position.

You’ll help develop reusable services, automation frameworks, and operational solutions for faster technology delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience configuring, automating, upgrading and managing lifecycle of enterprise platforms.
• Ability to implement cost optimization within production environments.
• Strong incident management and operational risk practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience building reusable platform components and automation capabilities.

As one of our DevOps Engineers you will leverage DevOps and platform engineering practices to improve platform reliability, security, scalability, and deployment efficiency. This role sits within our Asset Delivery Platform team. Working within a shared engineering capability, you'll develop and maintain reusable engineering services, automation frameworks, and operational solutions that empower teams to deliver technology outcomes faster and more effectively.

Our DevOps Engineer’s responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining automated delivery pipelines for platform configuration and code promotion Platform Engineering


• Creating and enhancing scripts, tools, and automation solutions that reduce manual effort, increase efficiency, and improve operational performance


• Configuring, building, and supporting enterprise platforms, ensuring they are secure, scalable, resilient, and fit for purpose


• Developing reusable platform components, templates, and automation capabilities that enable consistent, reliable, and efficient technology delivery across teams.

Here’s what you will bring to the role:

• Experience supporting, engineering, and enhancing enterprise platforms to ensure reliable and resilient technology services


• Experience with platform configuration, automation, upgrades, lifecycle management, release management, and cost optimisation within production environments


• Ability to apply IT service management principles, operational support processes, and incident and problem management practices to maintain service excellence


• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex platform issues while effectively managing operational risk and implementing secure engineering and governance controls


• Capability in building strong relationships with technical and business stakeholders, using excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills to achieve successful outcomes.
