Job summary

Pioneer Weston, a Rubix Company, seeks a Design Engineer to design and develop innovative products, systems, or components from concept through to manufacturing. You will create detailed CAD drawings, prototypes, and product specifications while ensuring design feasibility, testing, and cost optimisation.

You will work closely with cross‑functional teams including sales, production, quality assurance, and product management to deliver high‑quality designs that meet both functional and commercial

Qualifications

• HNC/HND engineering qualification required
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in mechanical engineering or related field
• Experience with sealing or rotating equipment is essential
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA)
• Experience with prototyping, testing, and materials selection
• Familiarity with moulding processes
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, mechanics and polymers
• Detail-oriented with strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Create detailed designs and technical specifications for products, systems, or components using CAD software
• Conduct design reviews with stakeholders
• Make-to-print – capture customer design intent for manufacture and inspection
• Follow CAD and drawing departmental guidelines
• Build and test prototypes to validate design
• Analyse test results and modify designs for performance
• Maintain accurate design records and comply with QMS
• Manage design projects from concept to manufacturing
• Collaborate with procurement and manufacturing to realise designs
• Support sales and marketing with technical insights
