Based in Palmerston North, Horizon is recruiting for a Design Engineer.

Reporting to the Design Engineer Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Designing capital network and external projects.
  2. Managing customer connection and approval processes.
  3. Conducting regulatory analysis.

Qualifications and experience required:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering recognized by IPENZ.
  2. Current Unrestricted Manual NZ Driver’s Licence.
  3. Up to 5 years of experience in the Power Distribution industry, including underground design (preferred but not mandatory).
  4. Familiarity with load flow simulation software such as DIgSilent Power Factory, overhead line design software like COLDNeT, Neara.
  5. Advanced mathematical skills.
  6. Proficiency in Excel and Word, with some experience with databases.
  7. Project management experience.
  8. High initiative and ability to relate well with staff, customers, and management.
  9. Decisiveness, self-motivation, and results focus.
  10. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
