About the school

We are a Y1–13 Area School situated in Oxford, 50 km from Christchurch. Our school educates a roll of 530 students from our community. We are proud of our whānau atmosphere with younger and older students growing, learning and shining together.

We are seeking two Deputy Principals to join our collaborative team, with both positions expected to start at the beginning of term 1, 2026.

Our Vision is Kahui Whetu, Tatai Whetu, Rau Whetu - As a community, we align our learning and skills, showing how extraordinary we are.

Our kura is the main educational provider for the Oxford area and we have a number of specialist facilities alongside all-purpose classrooms, including an Observatory. As we introduce new buildings to our kura we use star constellations as our naming convention. We currently have Aotahi (Orion) and Takurua (Sirius) as a basis for the constellation of Te Waka o Tamarereti.

We take pride in our sporting and cultural successes, including a strong kapa haka group, National success in Dragon Boating, excellent musical and drama productions, a comprehensive Outdoor Education program, and outstanding results in the Visual Arts, which are all flagship programmes in our senior school.

With low student-teacher ratios, we foster a safe and welcoming environment.

We also encourage whānau involvement and value our supportive community.
