Job summary

Aotearoa Infinite Academy, New Zealand's first online charter school, is creating a Department Lead for Technology. You will shape how our learners in Years 9–13 design, code, make and solve problems in an online environment, setting the standard for world-class technology education.

You will lead the teaching team, design online courses and projects, connect learning to NCEA and micro-credentials, and manage resources and the department budget in partnership with IT on platforms and access.

Responsibilities

• Lead department vision for Technology from Year 9 to Year 13.
• Design innovative online courses and projects building design thinking and computational thinking.
• Establish pathways linking to NCEA, micro-credentials, tertiary study and industry partnerships.
• coach and appraise teachers in the department and foster a culture of experimentation.
• Oversee assessment, moderation and achievement data and act on insights.
• Manage department budget, software and tools, with IT on platforms and access.

• Department vision. Set the direction for Technology from Year 9 to Year 13, across digital technologies, design and hard materials as relevant.
• Course design. Lead innovative online courses and projects that build design thinking, computational thinking and real-world problem solving.
• Pathways. Connect learning to NCEA, micro-credentials, tertiary study and industry, including partnerships with tech and design organisations.
• Teaching team. Lead, coach and appraise the teachers in your department, and grow a culture of experimentation.
• Assessment and achievement. Oversee assessment, moderation and achievement data, and act on what it shows.
• Resourcing. Manage the department budget, software and tools, working with IT on platforms and access.
