Job summary

Aotearoa Infinite Academy, New Zealand's first online charter school, invites applications for a Department Lead for Creative Arts. This permanent, full-time role leads Year 9–13 arts across visual arts, music, drama, dance and design, with a teaching component and online course design.

You will coach teachers, shape digital learning, and ensure assessment and portfolios align with NCEA standards. Start Term 1, 2027, with competitive remuneration and a collaborative leadership network.

Qualifications

• Registered teacher with a full practising certificate.
• Experience leading arts programmes, productions or exhibitions.
• Strong understanding of NCEA arts assessment and portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Set the department vision for Year 9–13 across visual arts, music, drama, dance and design.
• Lead online courses using digital studios, recording, virtual exhibitions and live performance.
• Showcase student work online and in person to whānau and community.
• Oversee assessment, moderation and achievement data for portfolios and performances.
• Manage department budget, software and equipment, and coach teaching staff.

Aotearoa Infinite Academy, New Zealand's first online charter school, is a thriving community growing to 2,000 students in 2027. To bring our goals for our learners to life, we're creating new leadership roles, including a Department Lead for Creative Arts. You'll reimagine how students create, perform, collaborate and share their work in an online school.

What you'll lead

• Department vision. Set the direction for the creative arts from Year 9 to Year 13, across visual arts, music, drama, dance and design as relevant.
• Course design. Lead innovative online courses that use digital studios, recording, virtual exhibitions and live performance.
• Showcasing student work. Create opportunities for students to share their work with whānau and the community, online and in person.
• Pathways. Connect learning to NCEA, Scholarship, tertiary study and creative industries.
• Teaching team. Lead, coach and appraise the teachers in your department, and grow a culture of creativity and experimentation.
• Assessment and achievement. Oversee assessment, moderation and achievement data, including portfolio and performance assessment online.
• Resourcing. Manage the department budget, creative software and equipment.

Who you are
