Job summary

Lumino Whangarei is seeking a friendly, reliable Casual Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our busy practice. The role combines front-of-house reception with chairside dental assisting support, with opportunities to grow into a permanent full-time position in early 2027.

You will welcome patients, manage appointments, assist clinicians, and help maintain a clean, well-organised clinical environment in a fast-paced dental setting.

Qualifications

• Previous dental assisting is advantageous but not required.
• Reception/administration or customer service experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Comfortable using computer systems and adapting to new software.
• Must have valid New Zealand work rights.
• Must be able to commute to Whangarei or be local.

Responsibilities

• Support clinicians during a variety of dental procedures.
• Prepare treatment rooms and assist with infection control procedures.
• Sterilise instruments and maintain a clean clinical environment.
• Update patient records and complete administrative tasks accurately.
• Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure smooth operation of the practice.
• Greet and welcome patients in a warm and professional manner.
• Manage appointments, phone calls, emails, and patient enquiries.
