Job summary

Lumino Whangarei is seeking a friendly, reliable casual Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our busy practice. The role combines front-of-house duties with chairside assistance, offering a dynamic, patient-focused environment in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

As a casual team member, you will support clinicians, manage appointments, and help maintain infection control standards. There is potential to transition to permanent full-time in early 2027, subject to business needs.

Qualifications

• Previous dental assisting experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Previous reception, administration, or customer service experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Confidence using computer systems and learning new technology.
• A reliable, flexible, and professional approach to work.
• Valid New Zealand work rights.
• The ability to commute easily to Whangarei or be based locally.

Responsibilities

• Supporting clinicians during a variety of dental procedures.
• Preparing treatment rooms and assisting with infection control procedures.
• Sterilising instruments and maintaining a clean clinical environment.
• Updating patient records and completing administrative tasks accurately.
• Working collaboratively with the wider team to ensure the smooth operation of the practice.
• Greeting and welcoming patients in a warm and professional manner.
• Managing appointments, phone calls, emails, and patient enquiries.
