Airways New Zealand is seeking a Delivery Practice Manager for the Technology Group, based at our Christchurch campus. You will lead the Delivery Practice team, develop delivery standards and governance, and ensure consistent, high-quality project delivery across portfolios.

You will oversee resources, establish metrics, and provide reporting to support decision making. A senior PMO background and PMP is desirable, with 10+ years in delivery leadership.

About the Team

The Deliveryteam is a key function in the Technology Group that is responsible for theeffective planning and delivery of programmes and projects to support Airwaysto deliver on its strategic goals. The Head of Portfolio Delivery has a reporting line to the Chief Information and Technology Officer (CITO) as thehead of the Technology Group which reflects the volume of delivery (number andvalue of projects) that have a strong technology connection across Airways.

The Deliveryteam also provide programme and project capabilities to other Airwaysportfolios. The office is seen as a strategic function of Airways that operateswith technology and business decision makers to deliver strategic benefitsthrough quality project and program deliverables, support on governance,project portfolio management best practices, mentoring, tools, clear andtransparent reporting, and standardised processes for all project, program andportfolio management activities.

About the Projects

With over a hundred projects on the go at any given point of time, our projectsspan across engineering/infrastructure, electrical/power, networks, enterprisesystems and property.

Our uniquely complex environmentincludes 20+ inhouse systems, hardware (design, build, installation andmaintenance) at 90+ NavAid sites, networks (design, implementation andmaintenance), IT services (design, maintenance and improvement), constructionand maintenance of buildings.

About the Role

Newly createdfull-time permanent opportunity as Delivery Practice Manager to improve howAirways delivers projects, programmes and portfolio outcomes. Reporting to theHead of Portfolio Delivery, this role will be based at our Christchurch campus.

You’ll lead the development of deliverypractices, standards, methods, tools and capability maturity to ensure projectdelivery and governance across the Technology Group are consistent, effectiveand continuously improving.

You’ll provide leadership for theDelivery Practice team, ensuring resources are deployed effectively, and thatquality objectives, common ways of working and practical delivery guidance are established and maintained.

You’ll also provide reliable delivery reporting, metrics, portfolio analysis, tooladministration and coordination support for the Project Delivery Managers and the Head of Portfolio Delivery, enabling informed decision making andsuccessful delivery of scheduled work.

Key focusareas:

  • Lead,develop and build an engaged and high performing team.
  • Deploystaff and contractors from within the Delivery Practice team, including managing recruitmentand contractor agreements in line with Airways policy to support deliveryresource requirements.
  • Ownand evolve delivery frameworks, methodologies, standards, templates andgovernance practices so they are practical, consistent and fit for purpose.
  • Builddelivery capability across the Portfolio Delivery team through guidance,coaching, mentoring, training and promotion of good practice.
  • Leadcontinuous improvement initiatives across the delivery lifecycle, using lessonslearned, stakeholder feedback and delivery data to improve consistency andoutcomes.
  • Establishand maintain project health checks, quality review practices and improvementactions that strengthen portfolio delivery quality over time.
  • Analyseportfolio performance data to identify trends, systemic risks, bottlenecks andopportunities to improve delivery predictability and success.

About You

You’ll bring proven leadership andmanagement skills, with the ability to build capability across cross-functionalteams whilst improving delivery frameworks, methods, standards and practicesover time.

Additionally, you willhave:

  • 10+ yearsindustry experience with 5 years gained in a project environment such as aStrategy Office, Portfolio Office, Programme Office, Project Management Officeor similar.
  • 5+ yearsindustry experience supporting capability development and providing reportingto governance groups.
  • RelevantTertiary degree in project management and delivery or equivalent experience inNew Zealand/or internationally.
  • PMPaccreditation or similar professional project management qualification.
  • Collaborativeapproach essential to fulfil key stakeholder needs and bring a continuousimprovement approach to delivery support practices and reporting.
  • Knowledge and experience with the practical application of different project management methodologies, models, and PPM tools (such as Sentient, Project Server/Project Online, PlanView, Microsoft pmo365, etc.).
  • Abilityto work in a dynamic business environment, influence and collaborate withpeople internally and externally, show resilience and agility, take ownershipand focus on delivering successful business outcomes.
Beneficial
  • Professionalqualifications in Portfolio Programme Project Management (P3M3) or ProjectPortfolio Management (PPM).
  • Abilityto identify and manage resource constraints and appropriately deploy staff tosupport.
