The Role

Reporting into the Director, Global Commercial Operations, The Deal Desk (Business Partner) is a critical member of Seequent’s global operations transactional team, responsible for supporting and facilitating the sales process. The role involves collaborating with sales, operations, and legal teams to ensure that pricing strategies, contract terms, and operational procedures align with company policies, processes and growth objectives.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  1. Assisting Sales teams on transactions by providing guidance and evaluating the structuring and pricing of sales opportunities.
  2. Monitoring compliance with company policies and procedures during deal negotiations and execution, ensuring risk mitigation and adherence to legal requirements.
  3. Exercising a level of delegated authority to approve non-standard deal terms.
  4. Collaborate with and coordinate sales, operations, legal, tax and finance teams to ensure timely and successful conclusions to sales opportunities.
  5. Serve as the key point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding deal-related queries.
  6. Develop deal structuring and pricing options for stakeholders to consider.
  7. Ensure approvers of non-standard deal terms are provided clear and accurate details of proposed transactions and recommendations.
  8. Maintain comprehensive documentation of deal guidelines, pricing structures, and contract terms. The Deal Desk function is new within Seequent, so initially the role will include establishing internal guidelines, structures and workflows.
  9. Work with management to develop and maintain performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for deal cohorts as well as internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Where appropriate, develop reporting/dashboards to track performance against KPIs and SLAs.
  10. Provide training and support to sales teams on deal structuring and pricing strategies.
  11. Facilitate training sessions for sales teams to ensure understanding of the deal advisory function, processes, tools and best practices.
  12. Develop the overall deal advisory strategy to support sales initiatives and optimise deal outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in deal desk, sales operations, or a related role within a complex, multi-parameter data environment being preferred.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or a related field.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  4. Proficiency in CRM systems (eg, Salesforce) and sales analytics and data analysis tools (Excel, PowerBI) coupled with relevant modelling and presentation skills.
  5. Excellent communication and partnering skills to ensure cross-functional and interdepartmental alignment or transactions.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
  7. Strong understanding of commercial principles and relevant financial and numerical acumen.

Additional Information:
Office-based working environment, work from our Christchurch, New Zealand office three or more days per week.
