Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Data Science Expert – AI Content Specialist to stress-test and improve cutting-edge AI models from anywhere in the world. This remote hourly-contract role offers intellectual challenge, flexible scheduling, and ongoing project renewal opportunities.

You’ll design complex problems, author benchmark solutions, and audit model outputs, contributing to the reliability and accuracy of advanced AI systems while collaborating with a global team of domain experts.

Qualifications

• Holds or is pursuing a Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics or CS.
• Strong foundations in supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, big data tech (Spark, Hadoop) or NLP.
• Able to clearly and precisely communicate complex algorithms and statistics in writing.
• Exceptionally detail-oriented; catches errors in code, notation, and conclusions that others miss.
• No prior AI or annotation experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design Complex Challenges — craft advanced data science problems spanning hyperparameter optimization, Bayesian inference, cross-validation and more to probe AI reasoning.
• Author Ground-Truth Solutions — develop rigorous, step-by-step technical responses including Python/R scripts, SQL queries, and mathematical derivations as benchmarks.
• Audit AI-Generated Code — critically evaluate outputs using libraries like Scikit-Learn, PyTorch, and TensorFlow for correctness and efficiency.
• Refine AI Reasoning — identify data leakage, overfitting, or imbalanced data handling issues and provide structured feedback to improve model thinking.

About The Role

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for experienced data scientists who want meaningful, intellectually stimulating work on their own schedule.

What You'll Do

• Design Complex Challenges — Craft advanced data science problems spanning hyperparameter optimization, Bayesian inference, cross-validation strategies, dimensionality reduction, and more to probe the limits of AI reasoning
• Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical responses including Python/R scripts, SQL queries, and mathematical derivations that serve as the definitive benchmark for model evaluation
• Audit AI-Generated Code — Critically evaluate AI outputs using libraries like Scikit-Learn, PyTorch, and TensorFlow, assessing for correctness, efficiency, and best practices
• Refine AI Reasoning — Identify and document logical failures such as data leakage, overfitting, or improper handling of imbalanced datasets, then provide structured feedback to improve how models think and respond

Who You Are

• Holds or is pursuing a Master's or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
• Strong foundational expertise in areas such as supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop), or NLP
• Able to communicate complex algorithmic and statistical concepts clearly and precisely in writing
• Exceptionally detail-oriented — you catch errors in code syntax, mathematical notation, and statistical conclusions that others miss
• No prior AI or annotation experience required

Nice to Have

• Experience with data annotation, data quality assurance, or model evaluation workflows
• Familiarity with production-level data science practices such as MLOps or CI/CD pipelines for models
