Job summary

Waikato Hospital in Hamilton is seeking a suitably qualified Data Manager to consolidate and improve data capture and management practices. The focus of this role will initially be compliance with data collection and reporting requirements, but in time will also extend to other data collection and management activities.

The position will require on site interaction with clinical staff, strong analytical skills, and competency with the use and development of database tools.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated data management and analysis experience, ideally in a clinical setting.
• Post Graduate qualification in related field.
• Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative and work proactively.
• Advanced computer skills, with proficiency in reporting.

Responsibilities

• Collect and collate data for audit and review of the department's activities.
• Extract data from core systems and translate to information used to improve care delivery.
• Continuous improvement in data quality and interpretation.
• Quality control over data completeness and remedial actions as required.
• Re-engineer and streamline data workflows to decrease re-work and churn.

About the Role

We are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified Data Manager to consolidate and improve our data capture and management practices. The focus of this role will initially be compliance with data collection and reporting requirements, but in time will also extend to other data collection and management activities. The position will require on site interaction with clinical staff, some familiarity with clinical terms and settings, strong analytical skills, and competency with the use and development of database tools. It is important that we are able to measure how we are doing when it comes to caring for our community and the region, and that we are able to compare ourselves to other centres in Australasia, so that we can be assured we are doing well, and can reassure others. We are able to offer flexible working hours and an interesting and vibrant working environment.

Key responsibilities:

• the collection and collation of data that allows audit and review of the departments activities
• effective extraction of data from core systems and translating this data into information that will be used to improve the delivery of care
• continuous improvement in data quality and interpretation
• quality control over data completeness and undertaking remedial actions as required
• the re-engineering and streamlining of work flow related issues, across the data collection, collation and data-entry tasks to decrease re-work and churn

The Cardiovascular Department is a busy service responsible for delivering care to people who need us at a critical time in their lives, and the lives of their family and loved ones. Covering four specialties Cardiology, Cardiothoracic, Vascular and Interventional Radiology.
