Job summary

Heartland is seeking a Data Engineer - Projects to shape and deliver strategic data initiatives across New Zealand and Australia. You’ll work with a modern cloud data stack (Snowflake, dbt, Azure Data Factory, DV2, AtScale) to build scalable data products supporting regulatory reporting, finance analytics, and platform migrations.

You will influence solution design, engage with stakeholders, and help establish best-practice data engineering standards in a growing financial services group

Qualifications

Proven experience delivering data engineering solutions in production environments.
Strong hands-on engineering with Snowflake and SQL, including performance optimisation and cost-conscious design.
Developing and supporting dbt in production, including models, testing, documentation, lineage and deployment practices.
Building and operating ingestion and orchestration solutions, ideally using Azure Data Factory.
Applying dimensional modelling and/or Data Vault 2.0 concepts to meet business requirements.
Delivering governed semantic layer solutions, ideally with AtScale or similar technologies.
Working within regulated industries where data accuracy, governance and traceability are critical.
