Job summary

Younity is seeking an experienced Data Engineer for a 6-month contract to support a migration project in Christchurch, New Zealand. You'll work on Databricks and Azure-based data platforms, building pipelines, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions.

We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our client on a migration project for an initial 6-month contract.

This role is specifically for someone with strong, recent Databricks experience who can come in and contribute quickly.

You’ll be working across modern data platforms and getting involved in interesting, project-based work using Databricks and the wider Azure data ecosystem.

This is a hands-on contract where you’ll be expected to bring solid Data Engineering experience, work confidently with stakeholders and hit the ground running.

What you’ll be doing

• Building and delivering modern data solutions using Databricks and Azure


• Working with modern data architectures, including Medallion Architecture


• Developing data pipelines and engineering solutions using SQL and Python


• Working across different project and stakeholder environments


• Contributing to the design and delivery of scalable data platforms


• Collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions

What we’re looking for

To be considered, you must have:

• Commercial Data Engineering experience


• At least 2 years’ recent, hands-on Databricks experience


• A current Databricks Associate or Professional certification


• Strong SQL and Python skills


• Experience working with modern data architectures


• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills


• Be currently based in Christchurch


• Hold valid New Zealand working rights


• Experience with Databricks Asset Bundles, Microsoft Fabric, Terraform or Bicep
