Job summary

Meridian Energy is seeking a Data Engineer for its Retail data platform in Wellington or Christchurch. You will build and optimise data solutions to help make energy cleaner and cheaper for Aotearoa/NZ.

You’ll work with Databricks, Spark, PySpark, SQL and Python, and collaborate with business and product teams to deliver data-driven products and experiences.

Qualifications

• This role requires an experienced Data Engineer with delivery focus.
• Proven collaboration with business and product teams to achieve outcomes.
• Strong track record with Databricks and AWS or Azure native services.
• Solid experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines, Spark preferred.
• Broad data modelling across the data lifecycle.

We are looking for a Data Engineer in our retail team, based in our offices in Wellington or Christchurch.

As a Data Engineer, you’ll build, optimise, and maintain the Retail data platform and solutions that help to make energy cleaner and cheaper for Aotearoa/NZ.

Āu mahi | What you’ll be doing

This role collaborates with teams and squads to enable the creation of data-driven products and experiences for both customers and internal teams. You’ll transform raw data into actionable democratised data products that drive business and customer value.

You’ll be responsible for implementing modular and scalable data and AI architectures and data models, developing and managing data pipelines, ensuring high platform availability and more.

• You’ll be an experienced Data Engineer, passionate about delivery and learning every day.
• You’ll have proven experience collaborating with business and product teams to achieve shared outcomes, including design, build, enablement, and transition.
• Track record with modern data platforms, such as Databricks and AWS or Azure native services.
• Solid experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines, ideally using Spark for data at scale.
• Broad data modelling expertise across the data lifecycle.
• Proficient programming skills in languages such asPySpark, SQL, Python, and exposure to Terraform forIaC(Infrastructure as Code).
• You’ll be able to collaborate with the business, product and other data practitioners.
