The Council provides a cycle safety programme for primary schools across the city, targeting 10 and 11 year olds to improve cycling skills and encourage them to cycle.
We’re after an enthusiastic instructor to deliver our Cycle Safe programme for a 12-month fixed term parental leave cover. We value people who share our vision to make Christchurch a cycle city and who bring energy and passion to their work.
You are positive, energetic and excited to foster a cycling culture for our rangatahi. You will have patience and a can-do attitude to work in this rewarding environment, helping children gain confidence daily. If you come from a teaching background and are seeking a change of pace, this role offers an opportunity to combine enthusiasm for being active with teaching valuable skills.

You should pride yourself on honesty, integrity and workplace maturity.
This opportunity is part-time between 8:45am and 3:00pm during primary school terms. You do not work during school holidays, but you may be required to attend professional development sessions.
As a Cycle Safe Instructor you will feel connected to your community and contribute to educating our future generation to cycle safely. You will have access to training programmes, workshops and development opportunities offered by the Council. As an employee of Christchurch City Council you receive sick leave entitlement and access to a range of benefits (health schemes, retail discounts, etc.).
