Job summary

Fletcher Building Limited in Rolleston, Canterbury, is seeking a hands-on team member for a 1-year fixed-term role. You’ll primarily assist customers at the Trade Counter and support stock, deliveries, and branch duties.

Working 40 hours across Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday rosters, you’ll need a friendly, reliable approach, a full NZ driver licence and comfort with computer systems. Join our diverse team and grow with us.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a customer service and/or retail sales environment.
• Plumbing background is ideal but not essential if you’re keen to learn.
• There will be manual handling and some heavy lifting required.
• Full clean NZ driver licence.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with customers.
• Self-motivated, proactive and able to work under pressure.
• Be confident with computers and learning new systems.

Job description

Reporting to the Branch Manager, this is a varied role where no two days are the same. While most of your time will be spent serving customers on the Trade Counter, you’ll also pitch in across the branch—helping with stock counts, shelf replenishment, deliveries, and general branch duties as needed.

• Ensure that our customers, who are made up of trades, businesses and homeowners, are greeted with a cheerful smile and exceptional service
• Cycle counting and restocking products
• Support the team in inventory management, inwards goods and doing deliveries
• Ensuring products are organised and ready for delivery
• Supporting the team with doing customer deliveries

This is a 1-year fix-term role starting in early January 2027. Offering 40 hours a week. Working Monday to Friday. There will also be one rostered Saturday (3 hours) every 3-4 weeks.

About you

To shine in this role, you’ll need to be an organised and reliable team player who enjoys working in a close-knit team. Have a customer-focused and outgoing attitude and good work ethic.

• Have a Full clean NZ driver licence
