Qualifications

• Certificated teacher with secondary certification (Years 7–15) and wharekura eligibility.
• Experience in careers education and gateway programs is preferred.
• Ability to build strong relationships with employers, tertiary providers and community partners.

We are seeking an experienced Careers and Gateway teacher to join our team. The successful applicant will be student-focused, relational, and passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for our young women. You will foster an environment where every student is encouraged to recognise her strengths, explore her aspirations, reach her potential, and confidently shape her future beyond Carmel. We’re excited about the future of Careers and Gateway, and we’re looking for people who are too.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide personalised careers education, guidance, and pathway. planning, helping students make informed decisions about their future.
• Lead and coordinate Gateway and work-based learning opportunities, ensuring students are well supported during their experiences.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, tertiary providers, industry, community organisations, whānau, and other pathway partners.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to connect students with opportunities that reflect their strengths, interests, aspirations, and individual needs.
• Coordinate careers events, guest speakers, industry visits, and other experiences that broaden students’ horizons and open up future opportunities.
• Develop students’ confidence, skills, and knowledge to successfully transition into further education, training, employment, or other pathways.
