Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Cost Analyst to join its global finance team. You will own costing integrity, inventory valuation, and financial reporting within the ERP system, collaborating across NZ and US teams to ensure accurate project costing and governance.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex information.
  • Attention to detail, organisation, and prioritisation capabilities.
  • Proven variance analysis and independent problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and MS Office capability.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.
  • At least five years' general ledger and cost accounting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of costing and inventory data in the ERP system.
  • Collaborate with planning to update project cost details.
  • Reconcile production orders, WIP, cycle counts, and annual inventory counts; review variances.
  • Review standard costs and MAUC for valuation and reporting.
  • Build and refine costing reports for management and statutory reporting.
  • Run monthly sub-ledger inventory reports and reconcile to GL.
  • Deliver quarterly obsolete and slow-moving inventory reserve analysis.
  • Analyze cycle count coverage and support SOX controls like reconciliations and production variances.
  • Support month-end processing including engineering and project cost for accounting.
  • Partner with NZ Finance to explain costing methodology and financial impacts.
  • Coordinate with US cost accounting to align with standards.
  • Collaborate with ERP teams on testing, deployments, and improvements.
  • Provide training and user guides on costing processes and controls.
