Job summary

Westpac New Zealand Limited is seeking a Corporate Governance Manager to lead governance practices, support boards and committees, and drive continuous improvement. You will provide governance advice, oversee processes, and ensure accurate records while enabling proactive, insight-led governance across the organisation.

You will collaborate with senior leaders, company secretaries, risk, legal and audit teams to deliver timely governance reporting and robust documentation, helping the business

Qualifications

  • Experience in governance, company secretariat, legal, compliance, risk or a similar corporate environment.
  • Understanding of governance principles and regulatory obligations.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
  • Excellent written communication skills and confidence preparing reports, papers and governance documentation.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and finding better ways of working.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across the business.
  • Experience in a complex or regulated environment would be an advantage.
  • Relevant tertiary or professional qualifications are desirable but not essential.

  • Tracking actions, decisions and commitments to help keep priorities moving and ensure accountability.
  • Preparing governance reporting and insights that help leaders make informed decisions.
  • Finding smarter, simpler ways of working by improving governance processes, tools and systems.
  • Keeping governance records, registers and entity information accurate, up to date and easy to access.
  • Supporting organisational changes and ensuring governance information keeps pace with business needs.
  • Coordinating regulatory filings, compliance activities and external reporting requirements.
  • Working with legal, risk, audit and other stakeholders to provide accurate documentation and governance records.
  • Helping identify and escalate governance or compliance risks when needed.
