About the Role


We have a unique opportunity for a high calibre legal professional to join our fantastic team on a fixed-term basis to cover parental leave until April 2026. This is a varied role enabling you to develop your experience as a skilled legal counsel while being well supported by our Australian legal team and external counsel.

You’ll be partnering with our various business units to deliver high quality legal affairs support on matters of strategic, commercial, and reputational importance.Reporting to our Manager Legal & Risk Management in Australia, you will work closely with the NZ lead team members and other key stakeholders within our diverse business to:

  • Support the business to deliver on corporate strategy and prioritised business outcomes
  • Provide high-quality legal advice to all parts of the business in a practical and commercially focused way to address risk, resolve issues and maximise the opportunity for the business to deliver against its strategy and goals
  • Support or lead on corporate transactions / business affairs deals and contractual negotiations
  • Provide timely, pragmatic advice on relevant law, including commercial, competition, consumer, intellectual property, privacy, finance/credit, and information technology
  • Provide exceptional negotiating, drafting, and reviewing of various commercial contracts and documentation
  • Manage litigation and dispute resolution
  • Oversee corporate governance and compliance, and management of reporting requirements
  • Prepare and deliver training on relevant legal and risk issues

About You

The ideal person will be commercially astute and practical, with sound judgment and strong interpersonal skills. Ideally you will bring a minimum of three to five years’relevantlegal experience gained either in-house or within a law firm. We are seeking a commercial generalist who is confident working autonomously and demonstrates solid experience, particularly in consumer law and negotiation of contracts.Experience within the technology sector will be highly regarded.

  • Highly developed negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Current holder of a New Zealand Law Society Practising Certificate
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with senior management
  • Strong self-management and resilience, with a pragmatic and commercially astute approach to balancing competing priorities
  • Quick to adapt and capable of acquiring new knowledge and skills in a dynamic environment
