Job summary

Presbyterian Support Otago in Mosgiel is seeking a passionate cook to join Taieri Court, preparing meals for 33 residents and the community. This part-time role combines Weekend Cook and Tea Cook duties, with focus on breakfast, lunches, and evening meals.

You will contribute to a hygienic kitchen, assist with menu planning, and perform general kitchen tasks while working 22.5 hours per week. This is a permanent role within a respected charitable organisation.

• Prepare meals for 33 residents in Taieri Court care home and the community.

• Weekend Cook duties: breakfast and main midday meal; Tea Cook duties: evening meal and kitchen cleaning.

Job description

We are seeking a passionate cook with either commercial or home cooking experience. If you are comfortable making bulk meals, we want to hear from you.

The Role

You will be a key part of the team involved in the preparation and cooking of a high standard of meals for 33 residents in our care home and the community.

In this role, you will provide efficient and high-quality food service, ensuring meals are presented in an appealing and appetising manner. Responsibilities include baking, preparing cold desserts, assisting with menu preparation, meat preparation, breakfast and dining room set-up (including cleaning), and carrying out general kitchen duties.

As a Weekend Cook, you will be responsible for preparing breakfast and cooking and serving the main midday meal. As a Tea Cook, you will prepare and serve the evening meal, while also undertaking general kitchen cleaning and housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.

Hours:

This is a permanent part-time position working 22.5 hours per week, as follows.
This role is advertised as a combined Weekend Cook and Tea Cook position. If you are interested in either the Day Cook or Tea Cook shifts only, we would still love to hear from you.

• Friday: 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm (Tea Cook)
• Saturday: 7:00 am - 1:30 pm (Weekend Cook) and 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm (Tea Cook)
• Sunday: 7:00 am - 1:30 pm Weekend Cook) and 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm (Tea Cook)
