Job summary

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council in Taradale, North Island, is seeking a Contracts Manager to join the Asset Management team. This full-time, permanent role oversees the day-to-day delivery of the Asset Maintenance Contract and related infrastructure projects, ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality outcomes.

You will coordinate contractor performance, manage work programmes, and build strong stakeholder relationships, while aligning with health, safety, and procurement requirements.

Qualifications

• A Diploma in Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification, with 3-5 years' experience in a similar role or industry
• Proven project management experience and practical knowledge of contract administration, including NZS3910 and NZS3917
• A sound understanding of relevant legislation, health and safety requirements, and quality management practices
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results
• Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship management skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Valid driver’s licence required

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day delivery of HBRC’s Asset Maintenance Contract and a range of infrastructure projects
• Manage contractor performance and coordinate work programmes
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure value for the community
• Contribute to ongoing improvement of Works Group operations and emergency response activities when required
