Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

The Contract Manager provides support for management of specific operations in their department, delivering on contract requirements, optimising resource use and achieving target results.

Key responsibilities of the Contract Manager – Surfacing, is to develop and implement plans, programmes and procedures to ensure the positive outcomes of all Contracts serviced as well as achieving business plan promises, return on assets and cash requirements for the department and region.

Key result areas include:

  • plan and direct operations to achieve above requirements,
  • provide technical expertise for surfacing delivery,
  • provide commercial reviews to optimise performance,
  • analyse contract performance, induction and training and other HR functions,
  • build client relations,
  • maintain all Safety, Environmental and Quality assurance systems.

Desirable to hold tertiary qualification engineering, although 3 years of skilled work experience in project management/engineering experience in chip seal operations can replace a formal qualification.

Additional/ Optional requirements
  • High level written and verbal communication skills as you will be liaising closely with internal staff, as well as sub-contractors and clients.
  • The ability to think outside the box and innovate, enabling improvement to the service to mutual benefit of all stakeholders.
  • Computer literacy and previous use of estimating and data collection software.
  • Understanding of financial and accounting processes, to include preparation of progress and claim reports and producing and interpreting monthly financial reports to P&L level.
  • Negotiation and management of ongoing change.
  • Previous experience in improving and maintaining communication in all forms with the client and with liaison with all stakeholders and the public.
  • Previous experience in compliance with Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental policies.
  • An ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to drive operational site work to ensure quality is achieved, work completed to schedule and rework is minimised
