Job summary

Whakatane District Council is seeking a Communications & Content Coordinator to lead content creation and social media activity from Whakatane, New Zealand. You will work with our Communications + Engagement team to find stories, trends and ideas worth sharing while managing multiple campaigns and deadlines.

The role focuses on turning data into engaging content, monitoring analytics, and coordinating across the team.

Qualifications

Proven experience creating digital and social content.
Ability to use analytics to improve content.
Experience with social media trends and audiences.
Strong writing and editing skills.
Local government experience helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

Creating content across channels including copy, photography, video and short-form posts.
Drive content opportunities across the Communications + Engagement portfolios.
Monitor social trends and online conversations and spot opportunities for the Council.
Analyse digital performance and use insights to improve content and campaigns.
Turn insights into stronger campaigns and smarter channel decisions.
Support communications and engagement campaigns for Council projects.
Write and edit clear content for multiple channels when needed.
Keep team activity, deadlines and workflows organised.
Provide coordination support to the Manager Communications and Engagement.
Support public engagement activities and consultations.
Pitch in when busy and assist during emergencies as part of Civil Defence.
