Job summary

KiwiRail in Auckland’s Southdown Container Terminal is seeking an experienced operational leader to oversee day-to-day performance, leading 40+ staff in a 24/7 environment, delivering safe, efficient and reliable container terminal operations for customers and the freight network.

You will lead and develop a large operational team, champion safety, ensure targets are met, manage rostering and resourcing, monitor budgets, and drive continuous improvement while building strong relationships with

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading large operational or frontline teams.
• Experience in safety-critical, logistics, freight, transport, manufacturing, warehousing or industrial environments.
• Sound understanding of rostering and resource management.
• Strong people leadership and performance management capability.
• Commercial awareness with experience managing costs.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the large operational team in a 24/7 environment.
• Champion a strong safety culture where Health, Safety and Wellbeing comes first.
• Ensure terminal operations run efficiently and meet train and customer service targets.
• Manage workforce planning, rostering and operational resourcing.
• Monitor budgets, costs and performance outcomes.
