About the Role

This position is a 6-month fixed term parental leave cover. As a Senior Medical Officer at Kidz First you will have the opportunity to work within a clinical environment that supports the needs of Tamariki from 0-15 years. This role focuses on providing specialist paediatric medical assessment and management for children and young people in the acute care setting. Activities include 1:6 ward weeks (including the weekends), and rostered days working within the Emergency Department leading the team of paediatric RMOs. You will also get to work in our outpatient clinics, providing follow-up care to your patients. We encourage you to pick up improvement projects in your areas of interest.

About you

As a Paediatrician at Kidz First you will need the following:

  • Be eligible for registration with the New Zealand Medical Council
  • Paediatric vocational scope of practice and Paediatric emergency medicine specialist (PEMS) training is preferred
  • Be committed to Evidence-based practice and quality measures
  • Demonstrate effective communication styles, critical thinking and striving to improve health inequities
  • Be a team player that can traverse across services and is respectful of other disciplines
  • A proven ability or competence in working with Maaori, Pacific and culturally diverse populations is preferred
