Job summary

Nelson Hospital, Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, is seeking an Orthopaedic Specialist to deliver patient-centred care across trauma and elective cases, including on-call duties, in a supportive, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons or equivalent.
• Eligible for Annual Practising Certificate with a vocational scope of Orthopaedic Surgery.
• Proven expertise in trauma and elective orthopaedic procedures.
• Sub-speciality interest: lower limb arthroplasty (preferred); hand & wrist an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centred orthopaedic care across trauma and elective cases.

About the Role

As an Orthopaedic Specialist, you will provide patient-centred care across consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for both trauma and elective cases. You will perform surgical procedures with a strong focus on patient safety and participate in the on-call roster, managing acute orthopaedic emergencies.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver individualised care plans, contribute to quality improvement, and provide teaching and mentorship to junior doctors, medical students, and the wider MDT.

• Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons or equivalent

• Have proven expertise in both trauma and elective orthopaedic procedures.
• Have a sub speciality interest in one or more of the following areas: lower limb arthroplasty (preferred), hand & Wrist surgery also an advantage.
