Qualifications

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent.
  • Advanced training and experience in Cardiac Electrophysiology.
  • Eligible for Vocational or Provisional Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • Applications from internationally trained specialists welcomed.

We are seeking a specialist Electrophysiology (EP) Cardiologist to join our highly regarded Cardiology Service at Waikato Hospital, one of New Zealand's leading tertiary cardiac centres.

This is an exceptional opportunity to practise across the full spectrum of cardiac EP while working alongside an experienced and collaborative multidisciplinary team. You'll have access to advanced technology, strong clinical support, and opportunities to contribute to service development, teaching, and research.

The Opportunity

This role offers broad and rewarding clinical practice including:

Electrophysiology studies and complex ablation procedures (RF, PFA and Cryo)

Advanced 3D mapping using CARTO

The full range of cardiac device implantation procedures

Outpatient and inpatient electrophysiology care

Participation in research, quality improvement, and service development initiatives

Waikato Hospital performs more than 300 EP procedures and 600 device implants annually and features a dedicated electrophysiology laboratory alongside additional pacing-capable catheterisation laboratories.

About the Service

Waikato Hospital is the tertiary referral centre for the Midland region, serving a population of approximately 860,000 people across the central North Island.

The Cardiology Service provides a comprehensive range of cardiac care including electrophysiology, structural heart disease, cardiac surgery, complex coronary intervention, imaging, and heart failure services. You will join a well-established team of 17 Cardiologists and 5 Cardiac Surgeons working in a modern environment that includes four cardiac catheterisation laboratories, a dedicated EP laboratory, and a purpose-built hybrid suite.

About You

You will be a qualified Cardiologist with advanced electrophysiology training and experience, who is committed to delivering high-quality patient care and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

To be successful in this role you will have:

Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or an equivalent qualification

Advanced training and experience in Cardiac Electrophysiology

Eligibility for Vocational or Provisional Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
