Job summary

Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand, invites applications for a specialist Electrophysiology Cardiologist to join our leading Cardiology Service. You will practise the full spectrum of cardiac EP with a collaborative MDT, supported by an EP laboratory and advanced technology.

You will participate in EP studies, complex ablations (RF, Cryo, PFA), 3D mapping with CARTO, and full-range device implantation, with opportunities for teaching, research, and service development.

Qualifications

• FRACP or equivalent qualification.
• Advanced training and experience in Cardiac Electrophysiology.
• Eligibility for Vocational or Provisional Vocational Registration with the MCNZ.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrophysiology studies and complex ablation procedures (RF, PFA and Cryo).
• Utilise advanced 3D mapping with CARTO for procedures.
• Conduct the full range of cardiac device implantation procedures.
• Provide outpatient and inpatient electrophysiology care.
• Participate in research, quality improvement, and service development initiatives.

We are seeking a specialist Electrophysiology (EP) Cardiologist to join our highly regarded Cardiology Service at Waikato Hospital, one of New Zealand's leading tertiary cardiac centres.

The Opportunity

• Electrophysiology studies and complex ablation procedures (RF, PFA and Cryo)

Waikato Hospital performs more than 300 EP procedures and 600 device implants annually and features a dedicated electrophysiology laboratory alongside additional pacing-capable catheterisation laboratories.

About the Service

Waikato Hospital is the tertiary referral centre for the Midland region, serving a population of approximately 860,000 people across the central North Island.

The Cardiology Service provides a comprehensive range of cardiac care including electrophysiology, structural heart disease, cardiac surgery, complex coronary intervention, imaging, and heart failure services.

You will join a well-established team of 17 Cardiologists and 5 Cardiac Surgeons working in a modern environment that includes four cardiac catheterisation laboratories, a dedicated EP laboratory, and a purpose-built hybrid suite.

About You

You will be a qualified Cardiologist with advanced electrophysiology training and experience, who is committed to delivering high-quality patient care and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or an equivalent qualification
• Advanced training and experience in Cardiac Electrophysiology
• Eligibility for Vocational or Provisional Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
