Job summary

The Department of Conservation (DOC) is seeking a motivated team member to contribute to three Canterbury projects that protect and enhance indigenous biodiversity around Te Waihora/Lake Ellesmere and its margins.

Based at Sockburn/Mahaanui Office in Christchurch, the role is full time, with fixed-term or secondment arrangements through June 2027, and salary range $62,192 - $67,446 dependent on skills and experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in varied methods of weed control, particularly for willow.
• Plant identification.
• Native restoration planting experience.
• Current, full driver’s license required.
• Ability to do repetitive physical work long-term.

Responsibilities

• Ecological weed control across sites.
• Animal pest control to protect biodiversity.
